Zanzibar’s narrow streets highlights its very ancient days, a reminder of the island's long and colorful history. It's a fascinating place to wander around and get lost in – on the streets, the House of Wonders, People’s Palace(Palace museum), other Palaces like the Maruhubi, Mtoni, Beit el Ras, Kibweni and Chuni Palaces all to the North of stone town, Dr Livingstone’s House(Houses Zanzibar Tourist Corporation ZTC), the old custom's house, the old Arab Fort, former slave market, bazaara, old harbour among others.
The great European explorers Burton, Speke and Livingstone set out on their voyages of discovery into the hinterland Zanzibar which conjures up exotic and romantic images.
